This website offers information on a range of different Saints that are relevant to students. Students will be required to select a saint and research how this particular saint used used their gifts to respond to God. This activity will provide the students with the opportunity to achieve the second outcome of the Parramatta Diocese Confirmation unit for stage three: identify Confirmation as one of the seven Sacraments and its place within the Sacraments of Initiation.
Through using this resource, students can click on the names of the different saints to find out about the life of the saint, where they lived and when they were canonised. This resource allows the teacher to provide students with the opportunity to take an inquiry approach where they take control of their own learning and find information. This website is relevant to the Sacrament of Confirmation because at Baptism, the person being baptised is given the name by which they will be known in the Christian community. This name often is the name of a saint. At Confirmation, candidates often choose another name, usually the name of a saint of Christian role model who can support the candidate in their faith journey. |
